Dr. Gary Lee Ritchie M.D.
Dr. Gary Lee Ritchie M.D. passed away on Oct 22nd 2021 in Texas at his son's home. He was 80 years old. Gary was the eldest son of Frank and Mary Ritchie and grew up in Pueblo, CO with his brother Darvin and his sister Jolene. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Beth Ley, in 1961 and soon thereafter moved to Omaha NE where he went to medical school at Creighton University. In 1972 Gary and his family moved to Canon City, CO where he established his career as a general practitioner. Over the next several decades he took care of thousands of patients and brought hundreds of new babies safely into this world. Gary spent his free time with his family fishing, hunting, snow skiing, camping and going to all his children's' swimming meets, football games, gymnastic, wrestling and track meets. He is survived by his brother and sister and his five children Tammy, Laurie, Rick, Michael and Gina as well as 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. As a husband, he cherished our mom with all his heart and as father to us five kids, he gave us everything we needed and wanted to become who we are today. Thank you dad for your big hugs, big Christmases, big family trips, big laughter, big heart and big smile. You will be missed by so many. We can only imagine what happens after death but I think I speak for all of us when I say we are all imagining him now holding my mom in his comforting arms in a beautiful place free of suffering and full of eternal peace. A memorial service to remember his life will be held on Saturday, Nov 27th at 4 p.m. at Christian Family Fellowship, 1011 Monroe Ave. Canon City, Co.

He was such a caring and compassionate Dr. and was mine for many years. He will be greatly missed by many including myself. May you rest in peace and enjoy being in the presence of Jesus.

Words cannot express how much I and my family loved and trusted Dr. Ritchie. He was the epitome of a caring physician of the old school. He delivered my daughter way back in 1979. Thank you, Dr. Ritchie. May you rest in peace.

We were saddened to hear about Gary's passing. We have many memories of him thru many generations of our family, from when he sat with us thru the loss of our parents to when we shared the birth of our son. He was a great doctor, and a kind friend with a welcoming smile. He is in God's memory now with a future hope. Our love, thoughts and prayers to all his family and to those who will miss him.
