Richard McAndries

Richard McAndries passed away June 22, 2014 at home in Canon City. He was born October 18, 1929 in Denver, CO to William McAndries and Annette Meyer McAndries. He graduated from the Holy Cross Abbey in 1947. Richard worked at Triplex Piston Company in Pueblo, coal mines in Trinidad, Fremont Paving in Canon City and Colorado State Reformatory in Buena Vista. On returning to Canon City, Richard eventually chose concrete construction as his career and started Fremont Concrete. Richard is survived by his wife, Shirley of 55 years; daughter, Diana (Jeff) Christensen; son, Douglas (Val) McAndries; two grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving are children and family from his former marriage; and last of the 8 McAndries children, his beloved sister Mary Jo (Jack) Felthager of Trinidad. He was proceeded in death by his parents; stepfather, Charles Clark; brothers, Bill Bob, and Joe; sisters, Pat, Teresa and Mickey. Memorial services will be held at Christian Family Fellowship at 1101 Monroe, Canon City, Friday June 27 at 10:00am. Arrangements by Holt Family Funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sangre de Cristo Hospice, 601 Greenwood Ave., Canon City. At family's request there will be no graveside service or reception.
