Verla Allene Dees, age 71, of Penrose, Colorado, was called to be with our Lord in Heaven on Tuesday, November 9, 2021. Allene was born on May 24, 1950 in Boise City, Oklahoma where she was the oldest girl of six children. She graduated from Valley High School in Gilcrest, Colorado in 1969. Allene was a born leader and was always up for any adventure. She tried to make everyone feel like part her family, had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. Allene enjoyed spending time with family and friends, antique/thrift shopping, car shows, camping, fishing, 4-wheeling, and loved to play poker and bingo. She is survived by her husband, Fred, with whom she was blessed to spend 54 years creating a life that they both loved. They were married on January 17, 1970. She is also survived by 3 of 4 children (Angela/Jason Vigil of Pueblo West, Tommy/Kirsten Dees of Penrose, and Amy/Jason Wood of Eaton), 14 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 3 sisters, 2 brothers, and so many nieces and nephews who she always tried to convince she was their favorite aunt. Allene was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Judy Poe, and her oldest son, Daniel Dees. We are hoping to have a Celebration of Life in the Spring of 2022.
