Aster M. Williams
Aster M. Williams, also known as Pat to family and friends and
"Together Again"
"Pa" to his grandchildren, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at his home. Pat was born in Albany, Georgia, on January 25, 1924, the son of the late Wesly Williams and Cora Lee Ricks-Williams-McDonald. He later moved to Canton, Ohio, where he was a resident until the time of his death. He attended J.J.. Burns Elementary School and McKinley High School. He was a World War II veteran. He later followed his older brother, Willie L. Williams, and traveled around Europe. Upon returning to Canton, he worked for the Timken Company, Local 1123, for 43 years. He belonged to a club called the Cavaliers and was a former member of the Canton Negro Old-Timers. His biggest passion was coaching the Mighty Mites baseball teams in the 50's and 60's. After retiring from the Timken Company, he volunteered coaching for 15 years. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, step-father, mother, wife, Evergreene L. Williams; daughter, Gwendolyn Jones; and son, Richard A. Williams. He is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly (Jerry) Barrino and Barbara Ann (Donald) Hall; son-in-law, Harold Jones, Sr.; a sister, Johnny Mae Butler of Canton; brother, Clark McDonald, Sr of Rochester, New York; six grandchildren, Harold Jones, Jr; Derrick, Donald and Corey Williams, Robert Barrino, all of Canton, Ohio, and Kellie L. Barrino of Charlotte, North Carolina; eight great-grandchildren; and five special nephews; and a host of other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at 12 noon at Rhoden Memorial Home. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to 511 Melrose NE, Canton, Ohio 44714. Interment in Forest Hill Cemetery.
