F. Joseph (Joey) Elum
age 70 of North Canton passed away Wednesday at Aultman Hospital. He was born July 10, 1942 in Massillon to the late Francis and Rose (Shannon) Elum. Joey was raised in Massillon and was a 1960 graduate of Central Catholic High School. He attended the University of Cincinnati, graduated from the University of Akron, and served in the Ohio National Guard. He was the owner/operator of Musair, Inc., and retired in 2005. Joey served as president of the International Business Music Association for 15 years. Joey will be remembered for his easy manner, unique sense of humor, love of family, friends, and neighbors. He was a loving husband and father, avidly social, dedicated to his Christian faith. He enjoyed boating, reading, and spending many an afternoon on the front porch with his dog.
Joey is survived by his wife of 38 years, Linda (Marlatt) Elum. They have two children, Brent Elum and Sarah Elum. He leaves a brother, Thomas J. Elum; sister-in-law, Sandra; niece, Stephanie; and nephew, Francis.
A memorial celebration of Joey's life will be held at noon on Monday at Church of the Lakes, Dr. Bryan George, will officiate. His final resting place will be Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Monday, 10 a.m. until the service at noon at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joey's name to the Philomatheon Society of Stark County or to Church of the Lakes.
