George Suma Obituary
74, of Canton, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Aultman Hospital following a lengthy illness. Born in Canton Oct. 13, 1942, son of the late George and Mary (Matronia) Suma. Employed as a grinder in the steel mill division of the Timken Co., of Canton, for 37 years retiring in 2001. A member of St. George Romanian Catholic Cathedral of Canton and its Carpathian Men's Club, Knights of Columbus Council #554 of Massillon, Canton Lincoln Alumni Association and served in the U.S. Army as a SP4 in Germany. George enjoyed gardening and yardwork and was an avid Cleveland sports fan.
Survived by his wife, Rodica (Ganga) Suma, married Nov. 21, 1980; son, Christopher Suma; last surviving uncle, Cornell (Louise) Matronia, all of Canton; along with numerous beloved cousins.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 4 at 10 a.m. in the St. George Romanian Catholic Cathedral of Canton with Very Rev. Fr. Ovidiu Marginean officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Monday, April 3 from 6-8 p.m., also in the church where a Saracusta service will be held at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the church.
