I remember Uncle Kenneth and Myrtle Jean coming to visit when we were small and bringing Jim, Paul and Betsy. Someone would always saddle the pony so they could ride. They were always fun and well mannered. We loved it when they came to visit.

I remember the Rapture. It happened at Windemere Elementary in Akron, Ohio. The lives of many of us would be forever changed. Jim Kettlewell had arived in town. I have so many precious memories of our church family at Oak Hill. The youth groups, choir, work camps, Rev. Ken & Jean, Bill and Beth Meyer, and our Navy days. Jim was the model for the son of a preacher man. Always full of piss and vinegar, you couldn't help but love him. He became one of those rare, life long friends. Today the world is a little darker without the spark of his life. May you find peace within the storm and gain comfort from the love of your family, children, and grand children. God be with you.

Jim was a great guy who I remember well. I recall playing basketball at the manse on East Market Street when we were in the 8th or 9th grade. The hoop on the garage was probably 8'6" but only Chuck Cutright could dunk. And the football games in the side yard on holidays. Finally, who could forget the Draymen playing hits at the dances at pool. RIP.

Kathy,
My heart breaks for you. Jim was one of the good guys. I never saw him do anything or say anything that would hurt someone else. I know you had a good life with him. I wish I could be there for you, but I am too far away. Know that I care and it gives me comfort to know that we will all be in Heaven together again one day. I love you and will keep you in my prayers. On my way to church now and will ask for prayer for your family.

Jim and I were classmates and friends at Hyre Junior High School and Ellet High School; inasmuch as our fathers were ministers, we were also fellow PKs. My condolences to his family and friends, who will surely miss the man whom they loved and cherished during his productive and fruitful life. To them, I offer the words of Helen Keller: When it seems that our sorrow is too great to be borne, let us think of the great family of the heavy-hearted into which our grief has given us entrance. And inevitably, we will feel about us their arms, their sympathy and their understanding.

To Kathy and family, Paul and Betsy,
I was so saddened to hear of Jim's passing. The entire Kettlewell family is very much a part of my wonderful memories of growing up in Oak Hill Church. Jim was such a "preacher's kid", but I knew that his sharp mind and deep faith would serve him well.
Please accept my deepest sympathy. I have always loved the words of Peter Marshall to his wife and family..."See you in the morning."I have no doubt that we will see Jim in that morning.
Sincerely,
Debbie Ross Whitman
