John Harrison Obituary

John M. Harrison

69, of Canton, Ohio, passed away at The Pines Healthcare Center on December 23, 2020 from complications of COVID-19. John lived most of his life in North Canton, and until recently often took the bus to his old neighborhood, chatting with longtime friends and hanging out at his favorite restaurants and stores, greeting the regulars with a big smile. Until the coronavirus pandemic made it too difficult, John liked nothing more than to be around people. He worked out at the Y, attended services at High Mill Church, and frequented car shows. He enjoyed chatting with the other residents in his group home and looked forward to participating in activities and going on outings with them. Over his lifetime, John built up an extensive collection of sports memorabilia and other collectibles. He was also a big fan of music, especially classic rock and country, and often listened to his large collection of CDs.

Wherever he went, John was never without his endearing smile and chuckle. People naturally cared for the special man that John was and what he brought to their lives. He will be sorely missed by many friends and family members.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Harrison and Shirley (Kesper) Harrison; and brother, James L. Harrison. He is survived by his siblings, Judith Pozar of Amherst, Mass., Jane Moore of Jones, Ala., and Ronald Harrison of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., and many other loving relatives and friends.

John will be buried in Forest Hill Cemetery, near his beloved parents and grandparents. A memorial service will be held in 2021 when we can safely gather again. Contributions may be made in John's name to the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) and Goodwill Industries. An online memorial can be viewed at www.karlofh.com.

Dear Judy, Jane and Ron:

I am so sorry for your loss. John used to frequent my store in North Canton. He always put a smile on everyone's face. Everybody who met John became his friend. I will miss talking sports, muscle cars and anything North Canton with him. He was a walking encyclopedia on the city. Rest in peace my friend. I look forward to seeing you in Heaven again someday.

God bless,

Rick Rosler
