John Hoey Obituary

John N. “Jack” Hoey
age 88, died Thursday. Born in Massillon, Ohio, he devoted his life to God and family. Graduate of St. John's High School and The University of Notre Dame. Avid bicyclist, model train collector, and endless road tripper.
Preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Helen Hoey, sisters, Harriet Hoey and Mary Helen Stenger, brothers, Robert and Harry Hoey, mother- in-law, Ladyne Townsend and sister-in-law, Deborah Soduk. Survived by his wife, Pamela, sons, Aaron and Matthew of San Francisco, daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Mark Smither of Columbus, special miniature love of his life, granddaughter, Lydia Smither and brother, Edward of Richland, Wash. John will be greatly missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, father- in-law, and all the wonderful friends he made along the journey of his life.
Family and friends will meet on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Massillon for a Mass of Christian Burial with Fr. Raymond Paul as celebrant. Friends may call Monday (Today) from 6-8 p.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Canton Central Catholic High School, The University of Notre Dame or Catholic Charities. Go Irish!
