Joseph DiBartolo Obituary

'Together Again'
Joseph C. DiBartolo
91 went to his heavenly reward peacefully on Sunday, April 28, 2013. Born March 19, 1922, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Grace in 2000; daughter-in-law, Eva in 2011; and parents, Isidore and Maria DiBartolo; five sisters and two brothers.
He is survived by his son, Vince with whom he resided and three grandchildren, Michelle DiBartolo (fiance, Kyle Haglock), Jeremy and Melissa (Timpe) DiBartolo, and Rocco and Kelly (Carter) DiBartolo, all of Canton. "Papa Joe" as he was affectionately called will be missed by his four great-grandchildren, Lucas, Hailey, Evan, and Emma; and another great-grandchild on the way. He served his country proudly in World War II and was retired from the Ford Motor Company. Joe and Grace were very accomplished and admired ballroom dancers as well as square dancing which they enjoyed in their later years together. A very avid bowler, he rolled a 690 series just a few days prior to his illness. He will be sorely missed by all of his friends whom he bowled with three times each week. One of his last instructions to his close friend, Helen was to make sure to get his prize money if he didn't make it to the bowling banquet. His quick wit, opinions and meticulous attention to detail and his genuine concern for others will remain with everyone he came in contact with during the time we were blessed to have him with us. He always knew where every penny came from, what is was spent on, and probably where it was hidden. He taught us by example and was always there for whatever was needed for however long. No matter what was going on, he always made sure to be home to take care of the dogs. The moment he walked in the door he would call out to them, "Whatya say Zoey and Harley, time to eat" It was almost as if he expected them to say something back. Maybe to his ears, they did. Joe was so proud of his family especially his grandchildren. He used to say, "I got a lawyer, a pastor, and an insurance agent, no one can touch me!" Enjoy your heavenly reward Dad, you truly deserve it. We will miss you. We know you're dancing to the One O'clock Jump's heavenly music now.
Calling hours will be Thursday, May 2 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Rossi Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, Canton on Friday, May 3 at 10 a.m., Msgr. Frank A. Carfagna celebrant, with burial at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stark County Humane Society.

I just got this news and I am really sad. I bowled with Joe in the summer for years and I have a great memory of him. On his 90th B-Day his friends had a surprise B-Day party at the bowling alley. The joy on his face and the tears in his eyes was one of the nicest moments I have ever been apart of.

MY HUSBAND AND I HAD THE GREAT PRIVILGE OF BOWLING WITH JOE ON THE FRI.SENIOR LEAGUE.WHAT A CHALLENGE IT WAS BECAUSE HE KNEW IT ALL. I MAKE SURE TO TAKE HIM A PACK OF PEANUT CRACKERS BECAUSE OF HIS SUGAR. HE SAID TO ME YOU SURE DO TAKE GOOD CARE OF ME. I'LL NEVER FORGET THOSE WORDS AS LONG AS I LIVE. THIS MAN HAD A TRUE HEART OF GOLD.HE OFFERED ME BOWLING TIPS, SAID DON'T LISTEN TO THAT OLD MAN LISTEN TO ME AND WE LOOKED AT BUD WE LAUGHED. HE OFFERED HIS EAR (EVEN HALF THE TIME I DON'T THINK HE HEARD ME). HE KNEW I WAS GOING TO HAVE KNEE SURGERY THE 24TH OF APRIL AND HE ENCOURAGED ME AS NO OTHER. HE SAID THIS COMING YEAR IS GONNA BE YOURS KID. IF I WAS DOWN THAT SURE DIDN'T LAST LONG CAUSE HE WOULDN'T LEAVE IT HAPPEN. WE WERE AT HIS 90 BIRTHDAY PARTY AND HOW HE ENJOYED THAT. I HAVE BEEN SO BLESSED TO HAVE THIS MAN IN MY LIFE OVER THE YEARS NOW. HE'S A FRIEND LIKE NO OTHER AND HE KNEW HOW TO ENJOY LIFE.IF ONLY OTHER PEOPLE KNEW HOW TO BE MORE LIKE JOE WHAT A BETTER WORLD THIS WOULD BE. HE'LL BE PART OF US TILL WE SEE HIM AGAIN. GOD BLESS YOU JOE ,YOU ARE HOME. LOVE YA FELLA BUD AND MARY

Uncle Joe was one who always made the world smile! I will never forget his kindness to my son Nick. And there are many memories of card-playing, to be sure! My prayers are with all of you in this difficult time. Much love,

To Joe's family....It was a blessing to have had the privlege to have known him. He was always welcome at our house with Helen what ever the occasion was & boy did he compliment me on my cooking. He loved our dogs also. His face always had a smile on it. I never heard a rude comment out of his mouth & he even thought his sense of humor was funny. In the few years that I had been around him, I learned that there was still a "true" gentleman in this world. We will miss him. God bless you Joe.
