Joseph Fisher Obituary

Minister Joseph M. Fisher
Joseph Marvin Fisher, age 71, departed this earth on Tuesday, November 25, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center following a sudden illness. Born March 19, 1937, in Canton, Ohio, Joe's family moved to Chicago, Illinois, in 1944, where he subsequently grew up and attended Gillespie Grammar School and Chicago Vocational School. Joe's most notable educational training was acquired from his lessons in the interaction of the population whom he served admirably and his dedication in his services to the Lord our God. Joe returned to Canton, Ohio in 1980, and became a member of the Greater Bethel Apostolic Church where he served as a respected minister, brother, uncle, and friend to many in the Canton area. Those who knew Joe were influenced by his jovial attitude, generous attributes and long lasting smile through life's adversities and triumphs. Joe's most recent spiritual guidance was in fellowship with Christ the King Apostolic. Joe was preceded in death by his father, Reverend Charles Henry and mother, Lela Belle (Calhoun); brothers, Charles, Earl, and Michael; sisters, Mary (Williams), Inez (Nelson), Naomi (Toler), and Eunice (McDonald). Joe leaves to cherish his precious memories, sister, Ruth (Stokes), Canton, Ohio; brothers, Titus D. of San Diego, California, Benjamin of Chicago, Illinois and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly. Funeral services will be held TODAY at 12 Noon at Greater Bethel Apostolic Church, 2335 15th St. S.W. Canton, Ohio. Viewing will be from 11 a.m. until time of service.

To The Toles\Fisher Family,

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during your timing of grieving. Uncle Joe always had a kind word for me growing up. He loved to ride his bike. I remember giving him an old bike and everytime he saw me he would let me know that he appreciated. He will be truly missed.

Music, when soft voices die

Music, when soft voices die,
Vibrates in the memory—
Odours, when sweet violets sicken,
Live within the sense they quicken.

Rose leaves, when the rose is dead,
Are heaped for the beloved's bed;
And so thy thoughts, when thou art gone,
Love itself shall slumber on.

Min. Fisher....words cannot express what you have meant to me over my 20 years of living on this earth...Never a single Sunday goes by that you weren't outside greeting me at the door and telling me how proud you were of me and how wonderful it is to see me singing praises to God!!!! He even gave me my new nick name " Me and my shadow"..which he would say every Sunday for years...He would always talk about how i'm always following my dad around..every since i was a little child..so he gave me that name...He never had a bad word to say about any one and he was the true defintion of being ready in season and out of season...when ever someone need prayer or scripture he was ready and able...words cannot express how much i and the Greater Bethel Apostolic family will miss him...he was a true soldier in the Army of the Lord...I'll miss you!!!!!!!!!!

Minister Joe Fisher was one of the kindest people that I have ever met.
When I would leave church at night, he would wait until my daughter and I would be safely in our car and insisted that he was not leaving until he knew we were on our way. Many times I tried to get him to put his bicycle in my trunk and I would take him home, but he said that his bicycle was just fine to ride.
My daughter, grand daughter and I will always have love and respect for Minister Joe Fisher and his memory. He had a gentleness, kindness and thoughtfulness that came through in his actions. He always praised the Lord and had a positive word. We will always love Minister Fisher, and cherish his memory.

Remember

Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you plann'd:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.

Joe Fisher will be missed! He never missed a year of calling me on my birthday. When he couldnt reach me, he'd leave a message with my sisters or brothers. Seems like Joe cared when no one else did. Sometimes we don't realize how much someone affects our lives until they are gone.

I will miss you, Minister Fisher! The Praise & Worship Ministry could always count on you to be ready to do the Scripture or Prayer at our evening services. There is so much that I could say. My memory will always be of him reading the Scripture, singing and giving his Testimony on November 23, 2008! I know that Minister Fisher (Joe) is with his Best Friend and all of the other GBAC loved ones that have already gone on! Miss you already!

My thoughts and prayers are with the family and GBAC!

Uncle Joe will always be remembered for his loving heart, which he would share each and everytime he would see you. I will hold fond memories of how he would never forget my birthday or anniversary. He would stop by or call after the birth of my children. He will be missed by many. No more buses to catch, no more rides to ask for just a sweet passage to the other side to rest eternally with our Lord.
Love,

To My Family Fisher & Stokes:
Joe was 'one of a kind' and there is so much more that can be said about his kindness and helpfulness. He had a wonderful heart and spirit and we know he was not ashamed of the Gospel. He will be missed for sure but we believe that He is now in the presence of Jesus Christ our Beloved Savior. I will continue to pray for the family that God will give strength and peace during this time. Love you all and God Bless You!

TO THE TOLES/FISHER FAMILY
UNCLE JOE, AS WE AFFECTIONATELY CALLED HIM, WILL BE MISSED. HE HAD A BIG HEART. HE WAS ALWAYS CONCERNED ABOUT YOU AND WOULD CALL YOU AND PRAY FOR YOU AND EVEN STOP BY TO SEE YOU IF HE WAS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD. HE TRULY DISPLAYED THE LOVE OF CHRIST. WE WILL MISS HIM BUT, WE REJOICE THAT WE KNOW THAT GOD HAS GIVEN HIM A RESTING PLACE AND THAT HE HAS RECEIVED HIS HEALING. UNCLE JOE DID NOT HIDE HIS LIGHT UNDER A BUSHEL, HE LET THE LIGHT OF JESUS SHINE BEFORE MEN THAT THEY WOULD SEE HIS GOOD WORKS AND GLORIFY OUR HEAVENLY FATHER. OUR FAMILY EXTENDS TO YOUR FAMILY OUR HEART FELT SYMPATHY.
