Joseph Pohlod Obituary

Joseph Pohlod
My life on earth is over and I'm resting in the arms of Jesus. I am surrounded by the loved ones who have gone before me. I remember. . . . I was born Dec. 9, 1919 to Michael and Maria (Harcar) Pohlod in Akron, Ohio. I had a brother, Michael and a sister,. Mary (Sadler), who both preceded me in death.
Surviving me is my wife, Carol, with whom I was blessed to share 45 years of wedded bliss. Also surviving is my son, Craig and his wife, Diana; my daughter, Lynn and companion, Dusty Rhodes; grandson, Chris (Angela) Pohlod; and granddaughter, Amy (Phil) Zezulak. Two precious great granddaughters also survive, Sydney and Erin Pohlod. I loved life, cherished friends, and my church family at Concordia. I was blessed to teach Sunday school for many years, sing in the choir, serve on the board of elders, and be an usher and a greeter. I worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 40 years retiring in 1980. I enjoyed our many vacation trips, particularly the one to Nova Scotia. I also enjoyed fishing with friends. I served in the Navy during World War II as a Pharmacist Mate Third Class.
Do not grieve for me. Be happy that after 91 years, I have fought the fight, run the race, and reached the finish line. I will be waiting for all of you. I want to thank Aultman Hospital, Nobles Pond, and Crossroads Hospice for their kind and compassionate care of me.
Please visit me at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, OH 44312 on Wednesday, June 29 from 5-8 p.m. A service to celebrate my life will take place at Concordia Lutheran Church, 724 Sumner Street, Akron, OH 44311 on Thursday, June 30 at 11 a.m., with further viewing from 10 a.m. until service time. Pastor Robert Tauscher will be officiating. Interment will be at Hillside Memorial Park following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Concordia Lutheran Church General Fund.

Not sure what to say?

I'm sorry for the loss of your loved one. It's never easy. My maternal grandmother was married to a pharmacist named Lou/Louis Sadler sometime in the early 1900's. Any chance Mary Sadler was a relative? I'm researching my Genealogy. Thank you. Genia Stephenson: [email protected]
