Louis Monnot Obituary
Louis G. Monnot
Passed away June 30, 2014 at the age of 85. Born in Louisville, Ohio, June 20, 1929 to the late Glen and Rhea (Moulin) Monnot. Louis was a 1947 graduate of Louisville High School. He was a Korean War Veteran earning several medals including a Purple Heart and retired from Republic Storage Systems after 38 years. He was a life member of the VFW #3747, American Legion Post #548. Louis loved having toddies and playing euchre with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Verna (Wagner) Monnot; infant daughter, Peggy Monnot; sister, Esther Schwab; and brother, Roy Monnot. Louis will be deeply missed by his daughter, Bobbi Wagner of the home; son, Tom Wagner of Florida; sisters, Dorothy Kasper of Florida and Ruth (Jim) McQuaid of Canton; sister-in-law, Jean Monnot of South Dakota; brothers, Ray Monnot of Canton, Edward Monnot of Louisville and Kenneth (Sandra) Monnot of Canton; grandchildren, Vicki (Mike) Whisnant of North Carolina and Sherryl Freeland of Canton; six great-grandchildren, Dylan, Brad, Caleb, Stella, Jake and Wyatt; special family friends, Jeff Wendell of Florida, Cindy Burns and Kim Nau of Canton; and numerous nephews and nieces. Louis is also survived by sons, Ronald (Elsie) Wagner of Navarre and John ((Donna) Wagner of Akron; and grandsons, Ronald, Brad (Brooke) and John (Carrie) Wagner.
Family and friends will call Saturday from 3-5 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel. Memorial and military burial at a later date. The family would like to thank his nurse, Brandi, Dr. Metzger and the rest of his doctors and all of the wonderful people at Aultman Woodlawn. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Aultman Hospice and Palliative Care.
