I had the pleasure of working with Marty several years in the AEP Canton office. He drove the secretary's crazy with his trip reports. An entire paragraph would be one sentence. Perhaps 50 words long. He was a great help to a young engineer. He took me to lunch several times that first summer in Canton (1968).In my book,
he will always be remembered as one of America's greatest generation
The story I retell often in on the AEP expense accounts and "Fergy"
At the time the New York office approved all Canton engineering expnses. He was in WV & KY and due to the rain these construction sites were mud fields.
He put rubber boots on the expense account and New York bounced it."you can not charge personal items to the company" He expained the situation but even though the boots were necessary to do his job NY would not budge " the boots must be removed from the expense report". Marty fought this for several weeks then reissued the expense account. The $ total was the same as before and he added the comment "the boots are in there you find them" NY approved the expense account without further comment.
Marty was agreat guy, I am proud to have known him.

Joe,
Your dad was truly a delightful person! I only saw him when he came to Abilene, but was always touched by his bringing a meal (usually Italian) to the convent. He told me that he did that for the Sisters at home, so he thought he would do it in Abilene too, much to our enjoyment! And, he always sent me a Christmas card, which was so thoughtful. I know he will be missed by you and all his family. You are in my prayers, especially today, Saturday. May God's gentle peace fill your heart and comfort you today and the days to come. Sister Regina

To Marty's family: I worked with Marty at AEP and was constantly entertained by his conversations--such a nice, humorous man! Marty was a unique person. He brought us banana bread that his wife made and it was the best I have ever had. I have very fond memories of Marty. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
