Philip DeChellis Obituary
age 68 of Canton, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Thursday, July 21, 2016. He was born in Pacentro, Italy on January 5, 1948, and moved to America at the age of five. Philip currently resided in Canton, Ohio where he was the owner of Napoli's Italian Eatery for the last 25 years. He was an ABLE, Inc. board member, president of the Downtown Business Partnership, and a member of SID.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arturo DeChellis. He is survived by his mother, Maria DeChellis; wife, Patty DeChellis; children, Ann Marie (fiance, Michael Selander) Heffner, Marc (Melissa) DeChellis, Michael DeChellis, Dan (Tara) DeChellis, and step-son Michael (fiance, Megan Sheppard) Skiba. Philip is also survived by his sister, Anna (Donato) Bassi; nine grandchildren, Tyler, Ryan, and Dylan Eakins, Gabrielle Heffner, Ava Selander, Nicholas, Gianna, and Giulia DeChellis, and Jackson Skiba; and one great-grandson, Benjamin, who is on the way; also three nieces and one nephew.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Rossi Family Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday morning at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, with Rev. Fr. Edward Beneleit officiating. Interment will follow at North Lawn Cemetery.

To ALL of our Friends, Family, Customers and members of the community...
First I would just like to thank everyone for your prayers, encouragement and support you gave my father (Phil) while he was fighting his illness and hanging in there just to spend a little more time with us. So many of you helped him in so many ways. From the doctors to nurses, the therapists to the housekeepers, many people gave so much of their selves to give my dad magnificent care. There are many unsung heroes out there, I would just like to thank all of you on behalf of my family for everything you have done for our hero, my Dad.
Phil was very well known in Canton and he had many good friends. Some of you know him as the owner of Napolis Italian Eatery, others know him more intimately from other associations and interests in life. However you knew him, we will all miss him dearly. He was such a great man. He was colorful and complex, yet he was grounded and down to earth and never thought he was better than anyone else. I always found my father to be the most interesting person I knew. His knowledge was as vast as interests in life. He taught me so much about so many things. What I value most about what he taught was simply, how to be a good person. My father taught me to love and respect, Im certainly still learning but I can't thiank him enough for all the love and wisdom he has left with me. He's left a lot of love with all over us.
I could ramble on about my dad endlessly. There is one thing I would like to say to you all because it's very important to me moving forward.
My dad had children, but his real "baby" was Napoli's. He was proud to provide good quality Italian food in a family friendly environment at an affordable price. He wanted a place you could feel comfortable taking your family, a place for the working folks to feed their families for a good value. I am proud, humbled and honored my father has given me the opportunity to continue the Napolis tradition. I will do my best, I will try my hardest to make sure my dads family oriented values continue at Napoli's. I will honor my fathers insistence on quality over all else. I want to make my dad proud and honor his legacy, the only way to do that is to keep providing the best pizza and pastas from here to New York!
I sincerely thank you all for so much support. I thank you dad for all you have instilled in me and for all the love you have always given me. I love you so much dad, I miss you terribly.

So sorry for the loss!! I used to eat lunch at napolis everyday when I worked at Arts jewelers back in 99. I would hang out with Mike during lunch hours and talk to Phil. Haven't been back in some time but I really need to.
