Robert Pruett Obituary

Robert L. Pruett
age 83, went home to be with his Lord on May 21st 2013 in Calabash N. C. where he has resided for the last 16 years. Bob was born in Canton Ohio on August 14th 1929 to the late James and Wava Keck Pruett. Bob retired from the Timken Co. after 30 years of service. He served in WWll, where one of his most treasured times was serving with the Army's 88th Div. in Italy. He was a proud member of the Blue Devil Div. of the European Operations. They were known as the "Tough Mountaineers " by the enemy. He made many lifelong friends of his brothers of the 88th. Known for his spit and polish, Bob had the rare honor of being invited to guard the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Washing to D.C., but decline to return home to help care for his Mother and sisters. In 1965, Bob was asked to join the elite scouting staff of the high flying St. Louis Baseball Cardinals, where he signed two players from Stark County. He also had business manager positions with the American Legion Post 44 and Superior Dairy baseball clubs of the mid and late 1960's. Bob loved the National pastime, and developed quality relationships with luminary's like Sparky Anderson, Roger Maris, Ken Boyer and many others. He was a member of the Greater Stark County Baseball Associations Hall of Fame for over 25 years. Everyone remembers Bob for his social friendliness, where he would always go out of his way to carry on conversations and help others in need. He was a Free Mason, a member of Canton 60 Lodge, where he instructed brothers in the art of Masonry.
Bob is survived by his life long soul mate, Angela M. Peloso Pruett; one son, Jerome and Shirley Pruett of Canton; and one daughter, Linda Frank  of Atlanta, Ga. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Jerome and Tammie Pruett of Canton, Derek Pruett of Venice, Calif., Tiffany and Chuck Gaetano, and Zachary Frank, of Atlanta, Ga.; his great grandchildren, Abbi Pruett, and Bella and Brianna Gaetano, will miss "Bobbies" fun time.
Private Services for the family were held. Donations can be made to lowercapefearhospicecenter@secuhospicehouseofbrunswick, or Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 955 Mercy Lane, Bolivia, N.C., 28422.

Dear Pruett Family,
I am so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. I was fortunate to have had Bob as our security at Liberty Square/Charter One Bank. Bob was definitely one of a kind! He always had a smile and joke for us girls. It wasn't often, but on occasion, we could even make him blush. He was so proud of his family. He loved to share stories of Jerome and baseball. Bob was one class act! He will be missed by many!

Dear Pruett Family, We worked with your father at Timken. He was a great person. I remember when he came to HSP from GSP he would ride the train from HSP out to GSP to see his old friends. He was one of the only guys that could do his work and never get dirty. He will be missed.

Jerome & Shirley, Our deepest sympathy to you on your loss. His life & the way he lived it sounds exceptional, a star whose light is now shining elsewhere. My daughter & I ran into your son (a carbon copy) at Bonefish Grill & after chatting we knew the apple did not fall far from the tree! Courage to the family & God bless you all.
