Robert Rollins Obituary

Robert Dale 'Doc' Rollins, D.O.
passed away December 20, 2013 after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born Sept. 4, 1938 in Kirksville, Missouri to the late Bill and Sara Rollins. He was an accomplished, kind and compassionate Family Physician who deeply touched the lives of all he met. A devoted family man of many interests and talents, his love of music and horses introduced him to his many wonderful friends.
Doc is survived by his beloved wife Eunice, daughters, Deborah (Ken) Dawson, Cheryl (Rick) Watt and Chris (Dave) Fry. Also left to miss him are his grandchildren, Anthony Jahab, Dr. Colleen Morris, Danny Fry, Brian Fry, great-granddaughters, Keirsten Fry, Sara Fry and his dear friend and sister, Barbara Brookes.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Special thanks to Mercy Hospice.

I just saw this today. My sincere condolences. This precious man treated my Grandmother, Edith Dolan, my Mother, Jo Ann Ickes and myself. He was hands down the absolute best doctor I´ve ever had. He actually saved my life when I was 24, I am now 56. God love this man. There will never be another one like him and I´m so grateful he touched my life as well as some of my family members. The 20th of December, 2019 will mark 6 years ago that my sweet brother, Bobby, passed. I realize that he was not perfect, no human being is...but I thank God for choosing him to be my brother. Bob knew my heart, and he never wanted me to "memorialize" him...and as I re-read the heartfelt messages below I am reminded how much his life made a difference. I miss him and love him dearly.

My since condolence goes out to Dr. Bob's family, especially my dear friend Barb and Crissie. I first met Bob and Barb in Chicago in 1953 and considered her my sister and Bob as my older brother. I am happy he fulfilled his dreams of becoming a Doctor. I had a conversation with Bob about two weeks before his passing and I know he will be missed by each of us, especially Barb. Our prayers are with all of you. We never had the chance to meet Bob, but somehow we all seemed to know him very well. We were blessed with his kindness and his love with every phone conversation we had with him. We loved the way he cared for and loved his sister, Barb. How lucky we all were to have known him in whatever way that was.

I don't know what to say. I am so completely sadden by his passing. He was my Dr. for many years before his retirement. He was so compassionate and caring, I couldn't have asked for a better Dr. I can honestly say that he saved my life when I was a teenager! I would not be alive today if he had not cared so much. There are not words to express my sorrow at his passing and my thoughts and prayer go out to his family. He will be Greatly missed!!

I haven't written sooner because I am so heartbroken that it's hard to put into words. I am so sorry for Bob's entire family. I have been praying for you. Bob was my cousin, and although I hardly got to see him, some of my favorite memories are about him. I was always happy to be around Bob. He was so funny. Actually, he had a great sense of humor all his life. He truly cared about people; and helped them in any way he could. He had rare traits that are not often seen, such as making people feel important and special. I will always love him and treasure many fond memories. I thank God for him being a part of my life. I also thank God that Bob is now in heaven and he will be eternally happy.

I never had a chance to meet Robert but remember the beautiful conversations Barb and I had about the loving brother she has. He was always there to support her in her time of need. Never had a brother but if I had, I would have wanted one just like Robert.

Robert is in a better place so it's all his loved ones that I'll keep in my prayers.

Fate placed me in Kirksville four years younger than Bob. I spent my early years tagging along behind Bob and his wonderful gang in the adventures of youth. We formed a band that eventually became the Red Blazers and enjoyed a lot of fans in NE Missouri. I enjoyed Bob's mentoring as he went through college and med school. He was a true gentleman and cast a benevolent shadow over his many friends in Kirksville. His class and sense of humor stays with me today and for the rest of my life. Larry
