Robert Simon Obituary
Robert G. Simon age 72 of Massillon passed away early Monday morning at his residence after a long illness. Bob was born March 16, 1935 in Massillon to the late Alfred and Ophra Simon and was a 1943 graduate of Washington High School. After high school he served two years in the Army and received an Honorable Discharge. For 28 years he was employed at Enduro Div of Republic Steel and retired in 1982. Massillon has lost a serious Tiger football fan. He kept his season tickets as long as health permitted and shared his knowledge of the Tigers and Cleveland Indians with anyone interested. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dorothy (Rogers) Simon of the residence. Four children: William (Sue) Simon of Norwood, NC, Jeanne (Terry) Harsh of Atlanta, GA, Virginia ‘Jennie' Simon of the residence & Kathy (Dave) Criss of Atlanta, GA. In addition there is a sister, Shirley Jenkins of CA and a brother Dave Simon of Boston. Grandchildren: Paul, Matt, Billy, Jennifer, Bobby and Samantha; and five great grandchildren. Funeral Services for the family will be Thursday at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon, his pastor Fr. Thomas Cebula will officiate. Burial will be at Brookfield Cemetery. Vitiation will be for the immediate family only.
