Mrs. Purdy and Valerie, We send our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to you at the loss of Mr. Purdy. It is strange how life plays out; here you were one of Tricia's favorite teachers at Pleasant View, and then Val, came into our lives as one of my nephew, Jay's best of friends! When we say life is only "Six Degrees of Seperation", it is really true. I happened to have a business meeting already scheduled in Cleveland the same week that Jay had to bury his father, and as I was wondering were Val was, Jay calls to say that she called to say her father had lost the batle as well. This has been one of the hardest years of my life in regards to the loss of life regarding my family and friends, but one thing I know, God is truly in control! May you be comforted in the knowledge that Mr. Purdy will suffer no more, and he is in great company!
May you both, and the entire Purdy family be strenghtened by all the love and prayers!

Kathleen,
The light of a distant star continues to reach the earth long after the star itself is gone. In the same way, the light and love your loved one gave will continue to shine in many hearts. I don't know what it's like to lose a husband; I only know what it's like to lose a father. But I know I made it because of the ever sustaining love of God for me, and how he came to my rescue when I called out for him to come up close and personal in my time of need and--he did and he continues to "hug and encourage" me when I have those tearful moments.
God's strength to you and your family in the days to come.

Val, I can not belive we both lost our father within a week apart. I feel that you and I are connected in our loss. It has been said to never underestimate the healing power we all have, but to chersish all the memories. Remember I will always be there for you as you have be there for me.

Daddy you will truly be missed. I am still in shock! I thought that you would live forever. I know that you will be with me in spirit for graduation. I know that you always loved me and only wanted the best. You are with God now and you are in a better place. Know that you were so strong and such a fighter that you fought until the end. I am so thankful that mom and I were with you until your last breath. I honestly believe that everything happens for a reason and that your purpose has been served!I will never forget you as you were always in my corner and supported me...as did mom. I'm still watching the playoffs and sportscenter although it will never be the same :)

Deepest sympathy to Rowland's family. As a member of Rowland's work family I will remember him as someone who helped make a bad day at the factory a lot easier to take. You never had to twist his arm to get his opinion and he always fought for what he thought was right.
I spoke with him about his health many times over the last year and not once did he ever complain or say "Why Me?" He said that if this was the way it had to be, then he would have to deal with it. I am going to miss him very, very much.
