Ruth Smith Obituary
age 83, passed away on May 9, 2013. Born on May 25, 1929 in Pennsylvania to David and Myrtle (Smith) Speck, she was a resident of the Navarre/Massillon area for most of her life. Retiring from Fairless Local Schools, she was a member of the Massillon Aerie #190 Eagles Club.
Preceded in death by her daughter, Catherine Frey; son, Victor D. Smith; sisters, Violet Rostonski, Myrtle Gray; brothers, David, and Ralph Speck. She is survived by her son, Jeff Smith of Florida; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Polly Plumb of Antwerp, Ohio; many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff of both Meadow Wind Health Care Center and Great Lakes Caring Hospice for their compassionate care of Ruth.
Funeral service will be on Monday, May 13, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 29 E. Main St., Dalton, 44618 with Pastor John Telloni, officiating. Burial will be at Dalton Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 3-5 p.m. and one hour prior to service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Meadow Wind Health Care Center, 300 23rd St. N.E., Massillon, OH 44646 or Great Lakes Caring Hospice, 1530 W. Market St., Akron, OH 44313. To Sue Stanslowski and Paul Domer, I am sorry that you lost Aunt Ruth. I know that she meant a lot to both of you and Sue, you always took such good care of her. I was glad to have met her; she was so sweet. My sympathy to her entire family.
