Stephanie Fowler Obituary

Stephanie
(Houghton) Fowler
age 50, passed away Oct. 30, 2011 at Hospice House in El Cajon, Calif., after losing her three year battle with cancer. Born in Canton, Ohio on April 18, 1961 she was a graduate of Glenoak High School Class of 1979. She attended Ohio State University and was employed by the State house in Columbus before moving to San Diego, Calif. Stephanie was an avid photographer and a true Dallas Cowboys football fan. She was a very special person, always putting the needs of others ahead of her own. She was an inspiration to others who was suffering from cancer and even to the doctors that were treating her, urging them to carry on and someday find a cure for this terrible illness. She has taught us all how we should live our lives and reminded us that we are here but for just a little while. She will be forever remembered.
Stephanie was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Ann; her maternal grandparents, Foster and Anna Lukens. She is survived by her husband, Brent Fowler of the home; two step sons and two step grandchildren of El Cajon, Calif; her parents, James and Donna Reed of Canton; four brothers, Rick (Sandy) Houghton of Spring Valley, Calif., Randy (Pam) Houghton of Uhrichsville, Ohio, Rodney Houghton of Centerburg, Ohio, Robert (Pete) and (Josette) Houghton of Canton, Ohio; two step brothers of Canton plus numerous nieces and nephews; her aunt, Dolores (Ray) Wilhelm of Massillon, Ohio. She also leaves her three dearest friends, she called her sisters, Barb Flemming of Massillon, Ohio, Cindy Lorey of Canton, Ohio, Liz Stahl of Lemon Grove, Calif.
As were her wishes, she has been cremated and her ashes spread in Yosemite National Park where she was married. Memorial services to be held Nov. 14, 2011 in El Cajon, Calif. In lieu of any memorials, give a loved one a hug.

October 30 was a sad day in my life. I lost one of my dearest friends. Most of my friends know her. She was such a sweet, kind, and loving person. I Iost my dear friend Stephanie Fowler who I first met when I worked at Transwestern Publishing. When you first meet her with sparkling blue eyes and wonderful smile she won you over right away. Now she is one of Gods angels.

I am so sorry to hear of Stephanie's passing. She was a sweet sister-in-law. And as pretty as ever. Taken far to soon. But now isn't suffering any more. I will never forget her.

My condolences to the family as I haven't seen Stephanie since high school. I'm surprised she lived right down the hill from me, as I live in Alpine, Ca. If I had only known we could have visited with each other. God Bless – Ellen (Duell) Sweeney

I also went to school with Stephanie, but I moved afterwards and lost touch. So very sorry for your loss. I lost my older sister last December after a 7 1/2 year battle with cancer also and it sounds like Stephanie and her had a lot in common, always smiling. Heaven has gained some awesome ladies, she will always be close in our hearts. God Bless.

Deeply sorry for your loss. As Brenda said, I lost track after school however, there are so many childhood memories. It sounds like Stephanie became an amazing woman and I believe she will live forever in the hearts of those who knew her.

Donna, Jim and Family,
My heart aches today after hearing of Stephanie's passing. We lost touch over the years, but I will always hold fond memories of our childhood on 36th Street. The countless hours of playing Barbie's in the basement and having camp outs in the garage. The memory I will hold closest to my heart is the day she stood at the alter with me on my wedding day. She will always hold a special spot in my heart. I'm so sorry for your loss.

My heart goes out to the Fowler family. I am the receptionist at the dental office Stephanie and Brent have come to for years, it seem odd that only seeing someone every 6mo's or so you would make such a connection...But I did, we did. Stephanie was a beautiful person inside and out, very easy to talk to.
Love and prayers to all of you,
Karon

Donna and family: You are in my thoughts. I'm so sorry for your loss and I can tell by the eloquent obituary that she must have been as proud of her family as they are of her.

I hugged my daughter, Donna. Wish I could hug you.
