Bradley Mauzy Obituary

MAUZY, BRADLEY S. of Huntingtown, MD, formerly Crofton, MD, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 24, 2012 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD, at the age of 54.

Bradley was born on October 26, 1957 in Cortland, NY, the son of Agnes Wood and the late Kenneth Mauzy. Brad spent his formative years in Cortland, NY. He received BS, Psychology from Syracuse University, Utica College in 1983 and MS, Counseling from State University of New York, College of Oneonta. He served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1976 to 1980.

Bradley was a licensed psychotherapist and trainer from 1985-2003; he spent his career caring for others through his private counseling practice, Comprehensive Counseling Services, Crofton, Md.; Anne Arundel Community College as a trainer for State, Federal and County Police department in management training programs; Anne Arundel Medical Center, on call Psychiatric Consultant. He was the director of Single Again (now Changing Focus) in Crofton, MD, from 1988 through 1996, and developed the MOHR program focusing on helping adults form healthy relationships. From 1996 till 2003, he worked for several non-profit agencies in Maryland focusing care to individuals with TBI and severe cognitive disabilities. In 2003 he made a career change into pharmaceutical clinical research and worked with multiple sponsors on projects for new drug development until his death.

He had also spent time working with youth groups and church missionary rebuilding projects. He enjoyed music, dancing, traveling, spending time with friends, his family and especially his grandsons, attending their baseball/basketball games, doing home improvement projects and gardening.

Bradley is survived by his beloved wife, Charlotte Quinlan Mauzy of Huntingtown, MD; two devoted stepchildren, Jennifer Quinlan of Annapolis, MD and Kevin Quinlan of Boston, MA; three brothers; four sisters; multiple nieces, nephews and two loving grandsons, Benjamin and Jack Luke.

The family will receive friends at the Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1411 Annapolis Road, Odenton, MD 21113 on Thursday, August 30, 2012 from 5:00 to 9:00pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 31, 2012 at Ark and Dove Presbyterian Church, 8424 Piney Orchard Parkway, Odenton, MD 21113 at 11:00am. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Bradley S. Mauzy may be directed to support leukemia research at the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center. Please make checks payable to John Hopkins University.
