Carl McWaters Obituary

Carl "Ted" McWaters, Jr. passed away on June 10, 2025 at his home in Galesville, Maryland. Ted was born in Washington, D.C. in August 1948. He and his little sister, Robin, grew up outside of D.C., namely in the Kentland neighborhood of Prince George's County. Following his graduation from Bladensburg High School, he enlisted in the United States Army. Always an incredibly skilled mechanic, he was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska, where was a crew chief, fixing Huey helicopters sent to war zones in Vietnam. Following his Army service, he returned home to Maryland and married the love of his life, Mary (Ramsey) McWaters. Ted and Mary were married for more than 51 years and shared countless memories together-building their two homes in South County, traveling to Super Bowls, taking cruises to Bermuda, and raising their daughter, Megan. Ted taught Megan how to ride a bike and drive a car, and he packed her lunch everyday until she finished high school. Just three weeks ago, he watched Megan graduate with her law degree, something he was incredibly proud of. Ted spent the majority of his career working for Giant Food, where he was a forklift operator in their warehouses. Ted loved classic cars, especially Corvettes, and owned several throughout his life. He and his childhood friends would frequently take trips to "Cruisin' Ocean City", where they would enjoy looking at custom cars and hot rods by the beach. Ted also loved taking care of animals and raised numerous family pets who would never leave his side. Those who knew Ted would describe him as truly larger than life and always ready to help his friends, neighbors, and family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary McWaters, his daughter, Megan McWaters, sister, Robin Allen, and a host of treasured in-laws, nieces, and nephews. A celebration of life will take place at the Galesville Memorial Hall (952 Main Street) on Tuesday, June 17th between 5-7pm. A light dinner and beverages will be served. Mary and Megan kindly ask that guests come prepared to share stories (however long or short) of Ted's incredible life.

Teddy was a dear neighbor growing up on Forest Road in Kentland, MD. My brother, Gary, always looked up to Ted as a cool guy and best friend, who both loved cars.
Our deepest sympathy to Mary, his beautiful wife and his daughter, Megan. You are in our prayers.

So sorry to her about Teddy. Teddy and I grew up together, went to high school together and lived in the same neighborhood. Spent many hours at the race track and working on cars. All around good guy. He is up there working on cars again with his father RIP Teddy.
