Charlie Brown

Charlie Mae Brown, 82, of Stevensville, died November 29 at Mandrin Care Center in Harwood. She was born Nov. 18, 1929, in Swanannoa, NC, one of six children of the late Ben L. and Geneva Hill Edwards. She grew up in North Carolina, where she attended school. Charlie moved to Maryland to reside with family, where she later met and married Carol "Curley" Brown. They lived in Annapolis until the late 1960s, when they moved to Stevensville. She worked for Bowen's Farm Supply in Annapolis and also as a waitress for Pier One Restaurant and Kentmoor Restaurant in Stevensville. Retiring in 1992, Charlie enjoyed gardening, ceramics, spending time with her grandchildren and pets, and cheering for her favorite team, the Redskins. She is survived by her daughter, Sheila M. Perry and her husband Hap of Annapolis; son, Ed Brown of Wye Mills; two grandchildren, Leslie Aefsky and her husband Brett, and Oliver Perry; niece and nephews of Indiana; and locally her niece, Robin Collier and her husband Charles; and nephew, Mark Edwards and his wife Carol. A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, December 3, preceded by visitation with family and friends at 11:30 a.m. at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Chester.
