Clifford W. Shorter

On August 3, 2015 from Annapolis Md at the age of 92, Clifford, died of repertory failure. Cliff is survived by his wife Audrey, whom he met at the young age of 15. They enjoyed over 70 years of marriage, a remarkable feat. Cliff's early years found him serving in the Navy from 1943-1946 and assigned to the USS Mazama. Cliff's apprenticeship as a coppersmith prepared him for his role as the Chief Engineer's "right hand man" onboard. After WWII, Cliff worked at the Washington Navy yard before being recruited by NASA, Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), in 1961. Cliff retired from NASA in 1979 as the GSFC Procurement Officer, an SES position. Due to his experience in government business, Cliff enjoyed consulting for another 23 years (mostly at the OAO Corporation). Upon official retirement, Audrey and Cliff did extensive travel both in the states and abroad. Cliff was a devoted Redskin fan and often wrote letters on Monday morning to coach Gibbs to point out his errors. He will be greatly missed by his family, including his wife Audrey, daughter Susan Quinn, son-in-law Phil Johnson, grandchildren Missy Quinn, Brian Quinn, Crystal Shorter, Jerry Frostbutter and great grandchild, Chase Estabrook. Relatives and friends may call at the Hardesty Funeral Home, P.A. 12 Ridgely Avenue Annapolis, MD 21401 on Thursday from 2-4 PM with family remembrances starting at 3:30 PM. Interment Private.
