Anna Chilton Obituary

Anna Bond Chilton, 88
LAWRENCEBURG

Anna Bond Chilton, age 88, passed away on Sept. 15, 2025, at her home in Lawrenceburg. Born May 13, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Huntley Jake Chilton and Margaret Louise Springate Chilton.
A proud graduate of Anderson County High School, Anna went on to earn her bachelor's degree from Kentucky State University. She later received a master's degree from Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, Calif., where she dedicated over 40 years as an administrator. In her role, she was instrumental in planning and designing academic assessments for students. After retiring and returning to her hometown, Anna remained active in her community. She was a devoted member of several organizations, including the Anderson Humane Society, the American Association of University Women, America in Bloom and the Friends of the Library.
She had a special affection for animals, especially cats, and shared a close bond with her beloved cat, Dooley, who was her loyal companion in later years. She also enjoyed visiting local wineries, a passion she developed during her years in Calif.
Anna is survived by her nieces, Lou Ann Hyatt (husband Vernon), Cheryl Louise Chilton and Jana Cuddy; her nephews, Vernon Caldwell, Jr. (wife Cindy) and Jeff Cuddy; and a very special friend, Laura Watts.
In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her siblings, Jennie Claunch, Bennie Earl Chilton and Donald H. Chilton.
In keeping with Anna's wishes, she was cremated. No services are scheduled at this time.
Memorial contributions in memory of Anna Chilton are suggested to the Anderson Humane Society, P.O. Box 494, Lawrenceburg, KY 40342, or online at https://andersonhumane.org/give-back/.

I have heard talk and tales of 'Anna Bond' my whole life; she was a dear and devoted friend of my grandmother and aunt for decades spanning her life in Kentucky, California and back again. Most special to me, however, have been these past few years when I came to know this creative, curious, determined, dynamic, smart, sweet and spirited woman as 'Annie B.' and as my own friend. She was a wise woman, and her brave, kind heart cast infinite ripples into the world.

I knew Annie B. for only a short time but it was a sweet, short timeshort and sweet, as they say.
Actually, she herself was short and sweet with definitely a bit of spice, or maybe even a splash of hot sauce!
I miss her presence in this world but know she’s not far in the other.

I knew Annie as a member of a Zoom writing group that started through the Woolman and Sierra Friends Center. I've been a part of the group for three years and Annie was a spirited member. She often wore festive socks, sweaters, or hats spicing up our remote club.
Nearly every Monday the group gets together to share writing prompts, stories, and feedback. Her writing was sweet and tender, often with a wink and twist of humor. Dooley always made an appearance and I hope he is being well cared for. Annie had a caring heart and often shared concerns for injustices in our world. I'm sad to know that I'll never meet her in person.

Ann was a good and constant friend to me from her Azusa days on into her Kentucky return. We shared our
love and knowledge of all cats, especially our own through the years. In these recent years, we shared our distress at the direction our nation was taking, some holistic thoughts and remedies and our love of humor. She taught me much about life (don’t let the old woman in!) cats and the enduring value of friendship I miss her.

I am a California friend of Ann's. I have known Ann for many years. She and I each had our own petsitting business and met through work. She had a business called The Cat Nanny. It was the perfect name for her business as she loved cats and always had several. She was also a golfer and a masseuse and was very active with Soroptimist International of Azusa/Glendora. She had a knack for writing and was interested in many different things. She had many friends and will be missed by all. Fly high Ann. I will miss you my friend.

Aunt Annie was a remarkable woman. She had an interesting and full life. She was smart, funny, energetic, and grounded in her convictions. Annie lived her life on her own terms, and she departed from this world on her own terms too. She is at peace. She lives on in all those she knew and touched. Annie will be missed, but mostly, we need to celebrate such a bright soul.
