Donna Fink Obituary

Donna G. Fink, a professional watercolorist, died October 15, 2014 at The Annapolitan of complications from multiple strokes. The Pasadena resident was 84. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Mrs. Fink moved with her family to Washington, DC, at the age of ten. After graduating from the University of Maryland in 1951, she worked for a year at S. Kann Sons Company in Washington before joining her husband for a 6-year tour of duty with the Air Force which took them to Alabama, Texas, California, and South Dakota, where the first two of their four children were born. In 1958, she moved with her family to Baltimore, where the other two children were born. She was employed as an instructional aide with Baltimore County Public Schools from 1970 until 1995; for 20 of those years she served at resource centers for teachers where she utilized her artistic skills in devising learning materials and visual aids for the classroom. After moving to the Magothy River in 1974, Mrs. Fink was active with her husband in boating, serving as President of the Maryland Yacht Club Ladies Auxiliary from 1979 to 1980. A former board member of the Maryland Federation of Art in Annapolis, Mrs. Fink served as President of the Annapolis Watercolor Club in the early 80's. She was a longtime member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society, and at her death served on the Art Gallery Committee at Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis. Her paintings may be found in private and corporate collections throughout the United States. With her husband, she had been a member of The Notables, a senior singing group based in Linthicum, which entertained other seniors at area banquets, senior centers and nursing homes. Donna was married to Harold E. Fink Sr. for 60 years. Mr. Fink died in 2012. A member of Second English Lutheran Church in Catonsville for a number of years, at the time of her death she was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Baltimore. She is survived by her two sons, Robert C. Fink of Oxford, Maryland, and Harold E. Jr., of Church Hill, Maryland; two daughters, Teri L. Bennett of Baltimore, and Diane M. Copeland of Pasadena, and a twin sister, Dianne T. Martin of Fairfax, Virginia. Beloved grandmother, known as "Namaw" to Will Fink, Harold Fink III, and Bobby Fink. Knowing Donna brought light and happiness to my life. I met Donna through my work with The Friends of Quiet Waters Park and the Friends art committee. Her spirit and good taste always added greatly in the maintenance the quality of art displayed at the park. I was also privileged to be able to help her get her website started, and have fond memories of her exact recommendations leading to every aspect of the site being the finest. In addition to loving family and friends, Donna leaves a delightful and admirable body of work that will enrich the lives of lovers of art long after we have all gone.
