Edward Frankland

Edward Leon Frankland, 68, a resident of Severn for 30 years, died April 17 at the Baltimore Washington Medical Center of heart failure.
Also known as "Butch," "Ed," and "Pawpaw," he was born March 5, 1944 in East St. Louis, IL. Ed enjoyed two careers, retiring as a U.S. Air Force Tech Sergeant, followed by the National Security Agency, where he worked until retirement. He took great pleasure in his grandchildren, NASCAR, cooking, VW Bugs, and his dog, Bella.
Ed was preceded in death by his father, Lyman Frankland.
He is survived by his mother, A. Marie Frankland of Lake Worth, FL; daughters, Tammy Frankland of Odenton, and Anna Finch of Fredericksburg, VA; sister, Dee Buchanan of Lake Worth, FL; and grandchildren, Christopher, Noah, and Grace Olivia.
A private burial will be held at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville. Memorial contributions may be in Ed's memory to Fisher House Foundation, Inc.,111 Rockville Pike, Suite 420, Rockville, MD 20850-5168 www.fisherhouse.org

Saddened to hear of Ed's passing. He and I go back a long ways to the late 70's, when he was still in the AF - I worked with him then and in later years as civilians at NSA. We went to coin shows together and he loved talking about NASCAR & his beloved VW bug. Kinda lost track of him after he retired, but will always remember him fondly. Tom Kotche
