James Akowskey

James Michael Akowskey Sr, age 80, passed away at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin on Saturday, September 9, 2023. Born in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Joseph Akowskey and Thelma Owens Akowskey. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Akowskey, three sons, James Akowskey, Jr. (Tammy) of Mechanicsville, MD, Michael Akowskey (Julia) of Waldorf, MD, William Anthony Akowskey (Kelly Ann) of Vancouver, WA, three daughters, Diana Ropel (Steve) of North Beach, MD, Tammy Economes (Michael) of Prince Frederick, MD and Rebecca Gaynor (Lee) of Emporia, VA, a brother, Joseph Akowskey (Brenda), and a sister, Ruth Akowskey. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William D. Akowskey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at 11:00 AM, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Ocean Pines. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 AM, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 105 Vianney Lane, Prince Frederick, MD Interment will follow at 1:00 PM, at Jesus the Good Shepherd Cemetery in Owings, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in the name of James Akowskey, Sr. to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, MD.
