Jane Clemmens Obituary

Jane Blunt Clemmens was born on November 16, 1929 in Ruthsburg, Maryland to Wilmer and Edna Blunt. Jane grew up on a farm with her siblings Olen, Carey, Sam and Marcia. As a young girl Jane milked the cows, collected eggs, picked tomatoes and helped with other chores on the farm. It was there that she learned to be content with the simple joys in life. She left the farm to go to the "big city" of Baltimore where she earned her nursing degree at the University of Maryland. It was there that she met the love of her life, a young Dr. Raymond Clemmens who was training in pediatrics while she was head nurse of the pediatric unit. They quickly fell in love and eloped to Myrtle Beach South Carolina on May 3, 1952. Jane and Ray shared a deep and loving partnership, where they enjoyed one another's company and loved dancing and traveling together. They settled down in Towson, Maryland where they raised their three children, Jeanne Morris (Joe), Michael Clemmens (Carol), James Clemmens (Margaret). She shared a close relationship with each of her children who adored her and were devoted to her throughout her life. Jane was an avid runner, completing two marathons and many laps around Goucher College. She found peace on the beaches of Sanibel and was know for her incredible shell collection. Most of all though, Jane was known for her kindness and gentle grace. She had a generosity of spirit and open heartedness that made all feel welcome and loved in her presence. Jane is survived by her three children, two daughter's in law, ten grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who hope to carry on her legacy of love, kindness and generosity.
