Jane Hilgedick Jacobsen, 72, a resident of Annapolis for 34 years, died peacefully January 28 at Mandrin Hospice House.
She was born in 1938, in Sherman, Texas. The daughter of a Navy Captain, she lived in Honolulu, Hawaii during the bombing of Pearl Harbor, attended high school in Winchester, Mass., and graduated with a degree in retailing from George Washington University, where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. During her time in Annapolis, she was an avid boater and active member of Annapolis Yacht Club and the Panhellenic Club of Annapolis.
She enjoyed morning walks with her friends around Annapolis Roads, playing bridge, traveling with friends, working as a graphic designer and volunteering. She served as President of the AAMC Auxiliary in the early nineties and more recently volunteered with Pathfinders at BWI Airport. In 2009, she received the Governor's Volunteer Service Certificate from Governor O'Malley.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Jake Jacobsen, who died in 2009; and sister, Claire.
She is survived by three sons, Jeffrey, Jonathan and Jacob Jr.; and four grandchildren, Kendall, Cameron, Jacob III and Alyn, all of Annapolis.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 4, at St. John Neumann Church in Annapolis. Internment is private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake at www.hospicechesapeake.org

What a dynamic, beautiful, amazing lady, The world has lost an asset but the heavens are receiving a present that is so special I wouldn't be surprised if they couldn't keep up with her. I had the great pleasure of working with Jane in the Auxiliary. I have so many wonderful memories of her at AAMC - especially our trip to California for Auxiliary. She was completely fearless and a wonderful, classy lady.
