June Talson

June Louise Talson, 92, of Crofton, died August 25 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a brief illness. A resident of Crofton for the past 25 years, she was a retired homemaker and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Crofton. Born May 2, 1921 in Gate City, VA, to the late Claude and Blanche Dougherty, June completed college at Virginia Intermont College, and then the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, where she majored in Chemistry. Married in 1948 to Mel Talson, a career Army officer, they traveled extensively, living in Trieste, Italy, Salzburg, Austria, Stuttgart, Germany, Seoul, Korea, and various US assignments. Her interests were travel, collecting antiques, decorating and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by six siblings. She is survived by her and son, Steve Talson and wife Mary Ellen of Crofton; daughter, Kay Freed and husband Butch of Austin, TX; five grandchildren, Stephanie (Freed) Whitaker and Jason Freed of Austin, TX, Chris Talson of Brooklyn, NY, Jessica (Talson) Burtness of San Diego, CA, and Katherine Talson of Crofton; and two great-grandchildren Brock and Presley Whitaker of Austin. Funeral private with with interment to follow at the Maryland Veteran's Cemetery in Crownsville. Arrangements entrusted to Hardesty Funeral Home of Annapolis.
