Katherine "Kitty" Siegert Tucker passed peacefully with family by her side on August 1, 2022, at 86 years old. Born to Josephine and Frederick Siegert in Washington D.C. on June 11, 1936, she resided in Galesville, Maryland for her entire life. Katherine was the oldest of six children, and cared immensely for her younger siblings. She attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Annapolis, Maryland. As a teenager, she worked for The Capital newspaper, delivering papers, where she met John Tucker, who worked as a typesetter. They married in 1953, and went on to raise five children in a home neighboring her parents. While raising her children, Katherine had a career as a cashier at Giant Food in Parole, Maryland. Katherine was a master homemaker. She could sew or alter any project, from quilts lovingly made in the company of her mother, to clothes and dolls for her children. Her cooking often held her family together, especially her crab cakes. She also enjoyed gardening, refinishing furniture, and painting. There seemed to be no creative endeavor she could not tackle. Beyond her talents, the most important, and proudest, part of Katherine's life was her children. Her home was always open to her family, no matter the hour. No one, and no need, would be turned away. As a mother, she coached softball, attended countless ball games, and helped with scouts. As a grandmother she provided daycare for many of her grandchildren, attended as many events as she could, and was a home away from home. As a great grandmother, she called often, spent many afternoons sharing treats and cradling babies, and encouraged all of her grandchildren to not sweat the small stuff as parents. She passed on many of her talents to her children, who are forever grateful for her involvement, love, and care. Her motherly advice, cooking, and spirited conversation will be sorely missed by her loved ones. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Tucker, her brother Frederick Siegert, sisters Ella Mae Burtis and Connie Servis, her son John Tucker, and grandson John Tucker. She is survived by her brothers; Michael Siegert, and Peter Siegert (Mary), brother in-law Al Servis, children; Norman Tucker (Victoria), Kathy Stone, SueAnn Christianson (Chris), and Joseph Tucker (Sherry), grandchildren; Laura Zollinhofer (David), Tracy Funchion (Carl), Nancy Ford (Brandon), Anthony Tucker (Nicole), James Tucker (Ellisse), Katie Christianson, Dana Cohen, Ryan Tucker (Lucia), Julie Christianson (Cruz), Kristina Arnold (Gary), 23 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a visitation on Sunday, August 7, 2022 from 4-6 pm at Hardesty Funeral Home, 905 Galesville Rd, Galesville, MD. Where a service will be held on Monday, August 8, 2022 at 11:00 am.
