Lynn Webber Obituary

Lynn (Laura Evelyn) Webber, 94, of Severna Park, Maryland passed away June 11, 2025. Lynn was born in Collinsville, Oklahoma, on November 16, 1930 to Verna and Charles Howard. She was raised in Skiatook, OK as the youngest of five children. She grew up in the kitchen of Howard Cafe, her parents' restaurant. The family moved to Denver when she was 15, where she stayed until she went to college. She got a degree in English with a minor in physical education from Oklahoma A&M. There she met her husband of 66 years, Richard (Dick) Webber, at the Wesley Foundation, while Dick was in the Air Force. Lynn and Dick were married November 21, 1951. They lived in Denver until Dick finished in the Air Force. They moved to Ann Arbor so Dick could complete his Masters at University of Michigan. The family of 8 lived in Ann Arbor until 1971 when Dick accepted a job at Westinghouse and moved to Severna Park. The mother of 6 was a busy homemaker. Lynn's favorite activities outside the home were volleyball, bowling, bridge, and church. She began bowling when she was pregnant with her 6th child because they offered free babysitting. She continued to bowl until this year at the age of 94. Lynn and Dick played couples bridge and Lynn continued playing bridge for the rest of her life. Lynn was quite a seamstress, sewing clothes for her family, completing many needle work projects, including cross-stitching personalized beach towels for every member of her family. For over 50 years Lynn was very active at Severna Park United Methodist Church. She was a central force in the kitchen, preparing dinners, receptions, providing hospitality to many. She was well known for selling pecans for UMW and for her caramel popcorn at ASP auctions. Until shortly before her death, she was in charge of the kitchen at the Garage Sale. Lynn was an alto in the Sanctuary Choir and also played in the handbell choir. Without a doubt, Lynn's favorite place to be was with her family, gathered around the table for a meal or a card game. Lynn is preceded in death by her husband Richard Charles Webber. Her memory is cherished in the hearts of her children: Glyn (Carolyn), Lezlie, Randy (Heidi), Kerri, Laura (Jack), and Megan and 9 adoring grandchildren. She was blessed to have 20 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on July 14, 2025, at 11:00 am at Severna Park United Methodist Church, 731 Benfield Rd., Severna Park, MD. Following the service there will be a reception in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Severna Park United Methodist Church. God was so gracious to give me and so many people the gift of Lynn's friendship. We had many years of getting together with "the foursome"...Lynn, Vonnie Stearns, Freck Belger and me, Marian Brophy. We played cards together, went on trips, shared recipes (that I still have) prayed together and celebrated together. I am grateful! Grace and peace, Marian

How sorry I am to learn of Lynn's passing, but how grateful I am to have known her. Such a bright light and a generous soul... she made volunteering in the SPUMC kitchen such a joy, and I will always cherish memories of my time with her and others in the choir. I can just imagine her rejoicing as she sings in the heavenly choir now. Sending love and sincere condolences to Lynn's family.
