Mary Grell Obituary
Mary Josephine Grell, born August 19, 1957, died April 24 at her home in Stuart, FL. Born in Annapolis, MD, she attended St. Mary's Elementary School and graduated from the Severn School in Severna Park, MD in 1975, attended the University of South Carolina, and graduated from the Washington School for Secretaries in 1977. Prior to moving to Florida in 1999, Mary Jo worked as a legal secretary for Arent Fox PLLC in Washington, DC. In Stuart, she was vice president and secretary of Alpha-1 Yacht Management, Inc., and worked with Deakins-Carroll Insurance Agency until 2012. She was a licensed Florida real estate salesperson, and was an active member of the Stuart Sailfish Club. Her favorite joys in life included gardening, needlepoint, and deep-sea fishing. Mary Jo was predeceased by her parents Dr. Victor S. and Nancy C. Leocha. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Frederick (Fritz) Grell; brothers, Stephen Leocha of Easton, MD and John Leocha of Annapolis, MD; and sisters, Lynn Yarbro of Annapolis and Jane Barlow of Lemoore, CA, and many extended family members. Celebrations of Life will be held in Annapolis, MD and Stuart, FL at later dates. Donations, in lieu of flowers may be sent to : The Stuart Sailfish Club P.O Box 1498 Port Salerno, Florida 34992

I was fortunate enough to meet Fritze and MJ last Feburary of 2014. At a stroke of luck, I was invited to fish with them, Dave Long and Mikey Babick last April, 2014 in the Bahamas! Our trip was one I will never forget. MJ and I got off to a slow start and our friendship went at light speed! MJ and I developed a very special friendship. I am deeply saddened at her passing to a better place. I was looking forward to fishing more with her on earth. Now, I will have to wait till Heaven.
Fritze, you have my prayers.

Mary Jo was an invaluable source of help to me as I transitioned into the role of Administrator at the Stuart Sailfish Club. Always there when I needed her help, always supportive, and kind beyond words. My heartfelt sympathies go out to you Fritz and all of Mary Jo's family.

Mary was devoted to her family, always placing their concerns ahead of her own. She was a devoted friend. We have many memories to cherish beginning with those days at Severn singing songs together in the girl's lounge. I am heartbroken and send condolences and love to all of her siblings, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
