Michael Cannell Obituary

Cannell, Michael John, a life-time resident of Annapolis, passed away of natural causes at his home June 8, 2012.

Born June 10, 1945 in Washington D.C. to the late Catherine Pettigrew Cannell and Humberston Skipwith Cannell, he grew up in Annapolis with his four brothers and sisters on Meredith Creek. He was a member of the Severn Sailing Association.

Michael loved the Chesapeake Bay and was an avid sailor. He sailed the Chesapeake Bay his entire life. He spent many fond days and nights with his family on his sailboat "Silkie". He enjoyed woodworking, cars, and nature photography. He loved his two grandchildren, Drew and Logan, deeply and was planning on teaching them to sail when they were older.

Michael is survived by two sons, Christopher Cannell of Herndon, VA and Peter Cannell of Mebane, NC; two brothers, David Cannell of Santa Barbara, CA and John Cannell of Atascadero, CA; two sisters, Mary Porter of Coolin, ID and Susan Cannell of Marietta, GA; two grandchildren; and former spouse, Paula Yewisiak.
