Robert Murray Cheston III

Robert Murray Cheston, III, "Evy", died at his home on the Rhode River, a home he loved and cared for, on June 18, 2024. Born on July 3, 1996, Evy graduated from the Key School in 2014, and attended the University of Mississippi. He worked in hospitality, first with The Chesapeake Bay Beach Club and presently with the Hyatt Corporation in Baltimore. Evy was a deep learner. His interests included gardening (grapes, citrus, roses, strawberries, fruit trees), music, history, the arts, sports, and the metaphysical. He held his vast knowledge humbly, but shared when asked, with his knowledge and interpretations blossoming forth in third and fourth dimensions; a poet prompting words to sing as he prompted flowers to bloom. Evy was an expert in noticing subtle beauty all around him, and all around those he loved. He was quick to share thoughtful notes or gestures or images or songs or poetry. When he did, it made you pause and notice the wonder around and within you, gracing you with goodness. Evy was very good company. He was graceful and kind, curious and caring, a true gentleman. When you spoke with Evy, you were heard. He gave generously and demanded little. We, Evy's family and friends, will miss this beautiful human being immensely. We pray that God and the universe continue to hold his wonderful soul gently in loving arms. Evy is survived by his parents, Sally B. Cheston and Robert M. Cheston, Jr., his siblings Edward M. Cheston, Elizabeth D. Cheston, James Cheston, John B. Cheston, and Marjorie M. Cheston, as well as numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. In lieu of flowers, please take pauses to notice and soak in the beauty around you, and share your wonder with others. Finally, we think Evy would add, "Go O's!" A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 11:00 am, Christ Episcopal Church, 220 Owensville Road, West River, MD, 20778, with a reception immediately after. All are welcome.
