Thomas Wohlgemuth

Thomas J. Wohlgemuth, 86, died March 23, 2016 at Genesis Spa Creek, Annapolis. He was born May 29, 1929 in Annapolis to George F. Wohlgemuth and Veronica Fitzgerald. He graduated from Fordham Prep in New York. Tom earned his BA at Loyola College in Baltimore in 1950. He attended Officers Candidate School and spent four years in the Navy as a Lieutenant during the Korean War. He earned his law degree from the University of Maryland. Tom started practicing general law in Annapolis in 1957 with a focus on school and education law. He was the Anne Arundel County Public School attorney for many years. He also worked pro-bono for the Providence Center for 36 years. He especially enjoyed helping people from all walks of life with their legal problems on a pro-bono basis. Tom was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church his entire life. He enjoyed sailing and general boating on the Chesapeake for most of his life, winning the Governor's Cup race in class and fleet. He also loved his neighborhood of 54 years Winchester-on-the-Severn. He was also a member of the Annapolitan Club for many years. Married in 1956, Tom's wife, Ann Gallentine, died in 2006. He is survived by three children in Annapolis: Tom Wohlgemuth Jr., Maryann Wohlgemuth, and Chris Wohlgemuth and five grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers George Wohlgemuth of Annapolis, Bill Wohlgemuth of Pennsylvania, and sister Peg Burroughs of Annapolis. A memorial mass will be held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 N. Bestgate Rd., Annapolis on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 10:30am. There will be a reception following the mass in Seelos Hall at John Neumann.
