Valda Iola Adeyemo, 87, of Annapolis, died March 14.
Born Valda Iola Tudor on Jan. 30, 1923, she was the fourth of 11 children born to James and Irene Tudor on the Caribbean Island of Barbados, West Indies.
She began her primary education at Hindsbury Girl School and completed her high school education at St. Michael and Queens College Girl schools. She immigrated to the U.S.A in 1945 to further her academic studies. Valda graduated from Howard University in 1949 with a Bachelor of Science degree, cum laude and a Masters degree in Bio-chemistry in 1952 from the University of Michigan. She was employed as a macro and micro Biologist at Howard and Georgetown Universities.
In 1953 she married surgeon Dr. Adeleke Adeyemo, and they had their only child, Adekayode Fernando Adeyemo in 1954. They returned to Dr. Adeyemo's homeland in Nigeria in 1960 where they lived for several years before returning to the U.S.A. She then became a member of the Annapolis Community and assumed the role of mother and housewife until she began a successful 22-year career as an Annapolis real estate agent prior to her retirement.
She is survived by her son, Kayode; former husband, Dr. Adeyemo; granddaughters, Symone and Ciara; siblings, Elsie, Grace, Norma, Roosevelt and Paul; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 p.m. March 27 at the Unity by the Bay Church, 836 Ritchie Highway Severna Park.

Kayode, losing a loved one is very heart wrenching.I know exactly how you feel at this time,however, it gets easier with each passing day when you reflect on those joyous time of your childhood with Aunt Valda as a parent. She is resting in the arms of her Saviour,so be happy for her..smile at the memories as they come,and cry when you feel the need for tears..Love Linda and family
