Vincent Cicconi Obituary

Vincent Anthony Cicconi, of Annapolis, passed away on September 16, 2024 at Annapolis Medical Center. He was born on July 1, 1942, in Rome, New York to Vincent and Angela Glasso Cicconi. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Utica College/Syracuse University in 1965 and received a Master's Degree in Labor and Industrial Relations from Cornell University in 1966. He was a member of Alpha Phi Delta fraternity. He served in the United Stated Army from 1966 to 1970. In 1971, Mr. Cicconi was employed as an economist with the Department of Labor and later the Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation until his retirement. In that capacity he testified before Congress, authored or co-authored numerous publications and was inducted into Omicron Delta Epsilon, a national honor society in the field of economics. After retirement he consulted with several organizations. Vince was known as an accomplished cook and baker, entertaining family and friends regularly with extraordinary feasts, endless pizzas and holiday cookies. He and wife Carol Ramsey Cicconi were world travelers, frequently accompanied by family and friends. He was a regular at Foundation Fitness. A crossword puzzle book was always close at hand. And even though he lived in Maryland for over 50 years he remained a diehard New York Yankee and Syracuse University sports fan. In addition to his beloved wife Carol, he is survived by his daughter Melisa (Will) Steffens, granddaughters Sloane and Sadie Steffens of Annapolis, MD, sister Phyllis (Gordon) Donohue of Berlin, MD, brother-in-law Carl (Billy Jean) Ramsey of Annapolis, MD, sister-in-law Elizabeth Ramsey of Annapolis, MD, nephews Bill (Maria) Kunigonis of Plantation, FL, Clayton (Sarah) Ramsey of Edgewater, MD, nieces Dawn (Tom) Foster of Annapolis, MD, Jill Gordon of Berlin, MD, Nicole Folin of San Francisco, CA, Sarah (Sean) Magee of Ann Arbor, MI, and many grand nieces and nephews who will fondly remember their Nonno and his granddog, Ginger. He was predeceased by his parents and in-laws, Joe and Peggy Ramsey, and his nephew-in-law Edward Gordon. There are no immediate plans for a service. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Lung Association (lung.org)

Will miss our many conversations about his trips and discussing the next crossword puzzle solution. My husband and I enjoyed his smiles and friendly hello's at the gym. Until we meet again Vincent...keep on peddling that bike.

I´ll always cherish our conversations about Syracuse sports, his support of the Michigan Wolverines, or swapping stories about our time in the service. And if you knew Vince, you knew he always had a crossword puzzle in hand.
