Thomas Allen "Tom" Spitzer

1949 - 2025

Thomas Allen Spitzer, a resident of Edgar, Montana, died on December 3, 2025, due to injuries suffered in a car accident.

Tom Spitzer was born on November 14, 1949, in Billings, MT, to Emil and Emilia Spitzer. He lived in Edgar, MT, worked for the Billings Gazette for 33 years as a maintenance worker, and then retired.

Tom remained single and spent his life alongside his brother and their family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil, and Emilia; his twin brother Jerry; his brothers Richard, Arnold, Bill, Kenneth, and Larry; and his sister, Alma Litton. Tom was also preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Rick Mitchum and Randy Foos, and his sister-in-law, Billy Rae Spitzer (Jim).

Tom is survived by several siblings: Ernie Spitzer (Marie) of Spokane, WA; Don Spitzer of Texas; Sister Donna Scates of Virginia; Jim Spitzer of Rockvale, MT; Harold Spitzer (Anita) of Arizona; Dianna Foos of Edgar, MT; Butch Spitzer (Sandy) of Spokane, WA; and Marilyn Mitchum of Huntley. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. Of special note are his nephew Justin Foos (Heather) and great-nephews Boone and Brady Foos, who were always there to help Tom whenever he needed anything.

A funeral service will take place at Smith Funeral Chapel in Laurel MT on Thursday, December 18, 2025. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by the service at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place immediately afterwards at Rockvale Cemetery.
