Betty Pheabus Obituary

Betty Jane Pheabus, 55, of Taneytown, died Friday, April 1, 2011, at home. Born May 24, 1955, she was the daughter of O. Christine Showers, of Finksburg. She was the wife of Harry Neil Pheabus, her husband of 40 years. She was employed at Northwest Middle School in Taneytown for 121/2 years. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Surviving, in addition to her mother and husband, are son Timothy Pheabus and wife Angel; daughter Connie Dellospedale and husband Timmy; grandchildren Justin Pheabus, Breanna Ball, and Austin and Amber Dellospedale; five sisters; and four brothers. She was predeceased by a son, Brian Pheabus; and a sister, Donna Sue Showers. Viewing will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, Pa. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the mortuary, with the Rev. Thomas Moser officiating. Interment in West Liberty United Methodist Cemetery in White Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Carroll Home Care and Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157; or the American Cancer Society, 8219 Town Center Drive, Baltimore, MD 21236, www.cancer.org.
