Charlotte E. Shaffer

Charlotte Elizabeth Shaffer, age 98, of Union Bridge, died Saturday, November 15, 2025 at Bethania Assisted Living, Westminster. Born October 22, 1927 in Detour, she was the daughter of the late Charles F. and Thelma Elizabeth Biddinger Trimmer. She was the wife of the late M. Lee Shaffer who died in 2003. In her earlier years, Mrs. Shaffer was employed at the Cambridge Rubber Company in Taneytown and later worked for 18 years with Moore Business Forms in Thurmont. She and her husband owned and operated The Golden Glove Twin Kiss Restaurant in Taneytown from 1970 until their retirement in 1977. Following that, she worked as a cafeteria assistant within Carroll County Public Schools and as an employee at Buttersburg Restaurant in Union Bridge. She retired at age 86. More recently, Mrs. Shaffer attended Woodsboro Lutheran Church. She found great joy in gardening, watching NASCAR, and traveling, especially bus trips. Surviving are daughters, Sandra Yealey (Tom) and Marilyn Hess; grandchildren Kasey (Jenn), Cody and Carly (Chris); great grandchildren, Brody, Madelyn, Jacob, Maxwell and McKinlee; stepdaughters, Diane Green (Lou) and Debbie Green (Fred); sisters, Barbara Christie and Pauline Heininger (Rodney); brothers, Earl Trimmer (Ruth), Donald Trimmer (Peggy) and Paul Trimmer (Linda); and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a stepson, Phil Shaffer; granddaughter, Robin Malone; and brother, Robert Trimmer. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, November 24 at 2 p.m. at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge. Her brother, Paul Trimmer will lead the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at the convenience of the family in Haugh's Cemetery, Ladiesburg.
