Eileen Reed

1937 - 2023

Eileen Elizabeth Reed (nee Donoghue) passed away on April 11, 2023, at home surrounded by her children. Born October 17th, 1937, in New York, she lived most of her life in St. Mary's County (Lexington Park), and the last 15 years in Taneytown (Caroll Vista). She was the beloved wife of the late Leo Dennis Reed, Sr., to whom she was married for 57 years. Along with raising her children, she worked at night typing reports for Navy test pilots. Among many of her talents, she was an avid crafter, secretary of the bowling league, and in charge of JULIET (Just Us Ladies Into Eating Together) in Caroll Vista. Her hobbies included playing cards, bunco, gardening, reading, camping, and spending time with friends. Eileen was devoted to her family and loved every opportunity to spend time together. She especially enjoyed spending time in the Outer Banks each summer. Her favorite nights included games with the entire family and outings for ice cream. Surviving is her son Dennis Reed, Jr., his spouse Rosemary, Beth Melvin, her spouse Dave, and Jenny Reed, her spouse Amy; Grandchildren Kory Gamet, his spouse Rebecca, Rhyan Gamet, Matthew Reed, Jordan Reed-Estes and Joshua Reed-Estes; Great-grandchildren Isaac, Jonah, Harper, Lucas, Ethan, and Freya; Siblings John Donoghue, Mary Agnes Donoghue, and Daniel Donoghue, his spouse Eileen; and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life for Eileen will be held on April 29, 2023, at the Marriott, Owings Mills Metro Centre, 10101 Grand Central Ave, Owings Mills, MD 21117. 11am – 2pm In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland, 515 South Haven Street, Baltimore, MD 21224. www.mealsonwheelsmd.org
