Emily Bivens Obituary

Emily E. Bivens, 92, of Finksburg, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House, following an extended illness.
Born Feb. 10, 1919, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Fannie Kunsky. She was the wife of Lawrence Bivens, her husband of 39 years, who died in 1974.
She had worked as an elevator operator in the Standard Oil Building in Baltimore. She was very active with the South Carroll Senior and Community Center. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles.
She was the last of her immediate family.
Surviving are children Danny Bivens and wife Josephine, Marlene Landers, Esther Sims, Calvin Bivens and wife Charlotte, and Irene Tripplet and husband Terry; 18 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by sons-in-law Wally Landers and Jackie Sims.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until the time of the memorial service, 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157; or to the South Carroll Senior Center, 5928 Mineral Hill Road, Sykesville, MD 21784.
