Evelyn E. Brown

Evelyn Elizabeth Brown, age 89, of New Windsor, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, while residing at Copper Ridge in Sykesville. Born September 11, 1936 in Frederick, MD, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Weddle and Laura Rhoderick Weddle. She was the loving wife of Philetus "Leatie" Brown, her husband of 60 years, who predeceased her in February of 2019. Evelyn attended Frederick High School and was formerly employed in restaurants and later the Frederick Sewing Company. She retired from Admiral Cleaners in Westminster. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzle books and spending time with her family. Surviving, are children and spouses, Dale (Karen) Brown of New Windsor, Mark (Leslie) Brown of Taneytown and Jennifer Brown (Dave Honeycutt Jr.) of Gettysburg, PA; grandchildren, Nicole (Justin) Willet of Westminster, Brittany (Jared) Kellner of Westminster, Eric (Lauren) Wilder of East Berlin, PA, Douglas (Maggie) Wilder of Fredericksburg, VA and Lauren (Will) Wilder-Schaeffer of Taneytown; as well as 11 great grandchildren; and many close nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 3 sisters, Louise Godwin, Virginia Tucker and Betty Martinez and 2 brothers, Woodrow Weddle and Jesse Weddle Jr. The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 310 Church St., New Windsor on Thursday, Nov. 6 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Nov. 7 at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Glen Willet will officiate. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Harney. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to New Windsor Volunteer Fire Co., PO Box 247, New Windsor, MD 21776.
