Gertrude Harden Obituary

Gertrude Marie Harden, age 83, of Sykesville, died Monday, September 3, 2018, at her residence at Integrace Fairhaven. Born December 24, 1934 in Cooksville, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Marie (Beaver) Hobbs. She was the wife of the late Warren Harden. Gertrude was a registered nurse in the labor and delivery unit at Sinai Hospital where she retired after many years of service. She was a member of Gaither United Methodist Church and St. Paul's United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School. Gertrude was very active and enjoyed her retirement years at Fairhaven. She enjoyed Wii Bowling, Poker and Bingo nights. She had many friends and was always taking care of people. She loved spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren! Her survivors include her children, Cindy Harden of Taneytown, Kurt Harden and wife Kathy of Gaither and Karen Harden of Sun City Center, FL; grandchildren, Alice Harden of Taneytown, Ethan Harden and wife Britney of Keymar, Warren Johns of Taneytown, Marilyn Glass and husband Bryan of Vilseck, Germany, Elizabeth Thomas and husband Bradley of Westminster and Samuel Harden of Gaither; and great-grandchildren, Gavin Glass and Elliot Harden. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Charles Hobbs. A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday at 1pm at Integrace Fairhaven Chapel, 7200 Third Avenue in Sykesville. Inurnment will be private. Those desiring may send donations to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157.
