James E. Witte Sr.

1949 - 2024

James Emory "Jimmy" Witte, Sr., age 74 died Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at Sinai Hospital, Baltimore, Md. Born June 25, 1949 he was the son of the late Mervin and Stella (Tawney) Witte. He was the loving husband of Mary Louise (Smith) Witte of 46 years. Jimmy worked in construction for many years. He enjoyed hunting, target shooting, planting and caring for his vegetable garden, crossword puzzles, coloring and NASCAR. Besides his wife Mary, he is survived by daughters, Michelle Baker and husband Dwain of Hanover, PA, Crystal Smith and husband Brian of PA; sons, David Witte of Spring Grove, PA, Johnny Witte of Manchester, MD; stepdaughter, Melissa Landis of Airville, PA; sister, Marie Sanbower and husband Joseph of Mt. Airy, MD, and brother, Roger Miller of Hanover, PA. He was predeceased by sons, James Emory Witte, Jr., and James "Bobber" Robert Witte; brother, Elmo Blizzard; sisters, Joann Miller and Betty Little. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at 12 p.m. at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD 21787. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the service at 12 p.m. Interment will follow the service at St. Paul's Cemetery, Uniontown, MD.
