John H. Shepherd Jr.

John Hamilton Shepherd, Jr., 93, of Lineboro, MD, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024, at his home. Born on August 5, 1931, in Baltimore City, MD, he was the son of the late John Hamilton Shepherd, Sr. and Evelyn Ester Elwell Shepherd. He was the beloved husband of the late Betty Jane Barcklow Shepherd, who passed away in 2017. John was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1950 to 1955. He was a member of the Westminster VFW Post 467, American Legion Post 31 of Westminster, the North-South Skirmish Association, and the Masonic Lodge. Years ago, he was an electrical engineer with the AAI Corp. Surviving him are daughters: Jane Hogg of Monrovia, MD, Bette Shepherd and husband David Dickmyer of Lineboro, MD, grandchildren: David Hogg of Frederick, MD, and Rebekah Hogg of Lineboro, MD. John was predeceased by his sister: Jean E. Cain. The family will receive visitors on Monday, December 30, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm, at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 31, at 12 pm. Interment to follow in Lineboro Cemetery, Lineboro, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered to Charity Lodge No. 134, C/O of John Sprague VanTran, 6 Twin Oaks Court, Parkton, MD 21120.
