Joyce Beddow Obituary

Joyce Burton Beddow, 90, of Mount Airy, Maryland, passed from this life on Monday, January 27, 2025 at Frederick Health Hospital. She was the wife of the late Theodore Grant Beddow, Sr., who predeceased her in 2008. Born on January 26, 1935, in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late William L. Burton and Edith (Walter) Burton. She graduated from the Charles E. Ellis School for Girls, Newtown Square, PA (1952). She was a nationally recognized Show Dog handler, Collie Breeder and Dog Show Judge. She was a member of the Mason Dixon Collie Club serving as its secretary for several decades and a member of the American Kennel Club. Joyce owned and operated Tedjoi Kennels in Mt. Airy where she provided care for dogs while their families were on vacation. As an active member of St. James Episcopal Church in Mt. Airy, she volunteered at the St. James Thrift Shop. She was also an avid Bird Watcher. She is survived by sons, Theodore, Jr., (wife Kim) and Brian; and grandchildren, Zachary, Taylor and Jessica. She was predeceased by her daughter, Tamara, and a brother, Perry Burton. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the ASPCA. Arrangements are with Stauffer Funeral Home, Mt. Airy. Expressions of sympathy may be offered to the family at StaufferFuneralHome.com.
